Black Diamond Dawn Patrol 25 Backcountry Ski Carry Backpack Avalung EUC.
Really sweet pack for backcountry skiing. As it is, there’s plenty of room for avalanche tools and the essentials for a day out of bounds. The pack is compatible with the Avalung system. I have no experience with the Avalung, so I cannot speak to how this bag works with it. Two options for ski carry; A-frame, or diagonally. Carries my 90mm waist skis with ease, plenty of room for fatty powder skis. Helmet tie down system allows you to carry helmet on the top of the bag (shown in photos) or on the back of the bag. Very “clean” bag, all the straps tuck away so you can ride the lift without fear of getting caught on the chair on inbound days. I love the design of this bag, clearly a lot of good thought was put into it. That being said, I’ve opted for something a little bigger (I always bring too much stuff, lol) and more versatile. It carries skis excellently, but I struggled to find a good way to carry my snowshoes and I am not sure if this bag will carry a snowboard (it might work with the diagonal carry system, but I don’t have a board to test it out on).
There is one spot where I put a small hole in the helmet tie down (see photos). I repaired it with a small piece of Tenacious Tape. Other than that, the bag is in perfect condition, very clean and housed in a smoke-free and dry basement.
